EVAN WISHLOFF
Describe the best day you've had on a bike.
Hard to nail down one particular day, but if you take races out of the picture, some of my favorite rides were all-day exploration rides while I was living in Sechelt. On the weekend breaks when I was out of school, I’d fill up my camelbak, bring a bunch of food, and head off for a 6+ hour ride with no real route planned. I discovered so many amazing trails this way. If you’re looking for an amazing variety of trails, the Sunshine Coast of BC is definitely a place to check out!
What was your first bike?
Giant NRS 3 (from Pedalhead of course. Well, bought off my dad, who bought it from Pedalhead. Close enough, right?)
What's your favourite local trail?
Pot Luck.
When I'm not riding I'm...
Studying. Not very exciting…
What's your nickname?
E-Train, E-Dawg, Wishbone, Otis, Elvis, Cletus
What's your favourite post-ride meal?
Pastry and a latte.
What's the best advice you've received?
“You can totally ride that” – said to me shortly before crashing my brains out.
Who inspires you?
My great-grandparents. Stories of their immigration to Canada in the 40’s and the hardships they endured help me keep things in perspective. Also has the benefit of helping me realize even the worst day I’ve had on a bike isn’t really that bad.
